Stardew Valley follow-up game name has been released and the name of the game sounds unique and interesting. Stardew Valley 2 will be called Haunted Chocolatier.

The head of the game development, Eric Barone aka “ConcernedApe” announced Haunted Chocolatier with a trailer last October 2021.

About Haunted Chocolatier

Haunted Chocolatier’s gameplay core as far as we know will revolve around running a chocolate shop.

From gathering ingredients to making chocolate and building relationships, the game looks inviting to Stardew Valley players.

Haunted Chocolatier is set in a local town full of stores and NPCs that you will interact with as you grow your shop.

Haunted Chocolatier Gameplay

Haunted Chocolatier is expected to be a single-player game. Stardew Valley had the multiplayer update after the launch but it looks like Barone won’t do the same thing for this upcoming game.

In the trailer, the activities that we have seen so far include setting up the table countertop using different styles, displaying various chocolate types, and waiting for a crowd to visit the shop.

There are even ghost figures that seem to act as assistants in carrying chocolates around.

You will also see the adventure that awaits when gathering ingredients including using a cool bow and arrow.

You might also have noticed the local villagers that might play a huge role in the game. The character names are as follows:

  • Jett – seen in a research lab and mentioned a Dr. Tungsten with whom he must be working.
  • Nigel – appears to be a bartender
  • Burk – has a shop that forges and sells weapons
  • Lily – has a neon home filled with plants
  • Maddie – no information about this villager

Haunted Chocolatier is also set to have boss battles like Stardew Valley.

Haunted Chocolatier Soundtracks

Stardew creator Barone showed off tracks for Haunted Chocolatier in his interview with Reason Studios.

While the interview was not focused on Haunted Chocolatier, he played a few tracks for the game.

The overall feel of the tracks suggests that they will be pretty upbeat, but Barone commented that most of the music of the game will have a somber and mysterious feel.

Haunted Chocolatier Release Date

Haunted Chocolatier’s release date is still unknown. If we look back at how it was with Stardew Valley, Barone didn’t drop any hints about the release date but would update with snippets of the game.

Barone did mention though that when the game was announced, the development was already ongoing for a year.

There might still be a ton of updates being done to the game but some predictions point that the game will be launched in 2023 or maybe later than that.

But one thing is for sure, knowing the success of Stardew Valley, Haunted Chocolatier is worth the wait.

Haunted Chocolatier and Mods

Haunted Chocolatier when it comes to modders and the modding community, is still a mystery.

The only thing that is certain right now is that the game will be released on Steam and GOG.com.

Although not much is known about how open the game will be to mods, it would be safe to say that since Stardew Valley had such success in part because of its modding community, Haunted Chocolatier will also be open to mods.

We can only speculate for now what kind of mods we might see for the game but if Stardew Valley is anything to go by, then the possibilities are endless.

Will Haunted Chocolatier be Available on Gaming Consoles?

Haunted Chocolatier’s availability on gaming consoles has a high chance. Barone mentioned that he has the intention to bring the Haunted Chocolatier to major platforms.

Currently, Stardew Valley is compatible with different gaming platforms which include Windows, macOS, Linux, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, Playstation Vita, and Xbox One.

One thing that we can expect from Haunted Chocolatier is that it will be available on your gaming PC and with its predecessor, it’s most likely that the game will be available on different gaming platforms.

Final Thoughts

Stardew Valley 2 or Haunted Chocolatier is still shrouded in mystery. All we know right now is that the game is currently in development and we might see it in the next few years.

The good news is that we won’t have to wait long as development is ongoing and updates are expected to be released soon.

In the meantime, you can always replay Stardew Valley and try out the different mods available for the game.
