Audio Quality

Side view of the Razer Kraken Kitty Headset

The audio quality rivals that of any top gaming headset you’ll find on the market. Razer is known for quality and this pink colored headset features THX 7.1 surround sound that delivers a bang and really immerses you into your games.

You’ll easily be able to hear the faintest footsteps as well thundering noise of bombs just as if it’s real. The last part sounds kind of horrifying if you think about it, but it does add to the immersion.

Being able to pinpoint the direction of where the sound is coming from is very important, especially in PvP shooter games where you have to be wary of nearby enemies.

The bass is also quite impressive and doesn’t sound ‘tin’-like. There is actually depth in the bass making the sound more full.

Microphone and Noise Cancellation

Pink microphone from the Kitty headset

If you’re in the market for pink headphones with a mic then this has you covered. Like most microphones these days, these feature noise cancellation to block out any unwanted sound.

If you watch any stream featuring this headset, you probably already know how the mic sounds like.

It’s clean, it’s crisp, and most importantly, it’s built to last.

You also won’t need to worry about it getting in your way as you can simply retract the mic when you are using it, and move it back up when you don’t need it.

You can even step up your sound quality with Razer Synapse software where you can adjust the microphone’s sensitivity, use voice enhancement features, tweak the sidetone, and make adjustments to the volume.

Comfort

Ear foam pieces

The Razer Kraken Kitty Edition brings the utmost comfort to users who are into long gaming sessions. You won’t have any trouble getting sweaty ears if you are raiding in your favorite MMORPG or playing for hours with your friends.

The ear cups have a cooling gel that prevents pressure build-up and stops the headset from overheating.

The headband is the usual you see on gaming headsets, faux leather and at the bottom edge is fabric-covered padding. The headband also expands and can be adjusted according to the user’s head size so it will fit whether you have a big or small head.

The frame is made from bauxite aluminum for reduced weight and less strain.

Design and Controls

The Razer Kraken Kitty is built for comfort and has intuitive control placement. Let’s take a look more at the Razer headset cat ears design and controls.

Design

Razer Kraken Kitty design boasts an outstanding 16.8 million color options for optimal customization of Razer Chroma RGB lighting through the Razer Synapse tool.

The Razer Chroma lights up the cat ears and the triple-headed snake Razer logo. This means that you can change the color on each cat ear to create a fun and colorful headset depending on your own style. If you like rose quartz, that’s cool, but if you want pastel green ears, that’s also cool.

Take note though that the ears are non-detachable so don’t go forcing them off when you don’t feel like being a cat anymore.

Streamers would find these headphones even more fun as you can program the ear colors based on chat notifications and more.

This USB gaming headset features a 4.3 feet USB cable that is fabric-wrapped to prevent messy tangles. The cylindrical plastic capsule boom microphone is strategically mounted on the left earcup which can be easily retracted as mentioned in the section before.

Color-wise, you can choose between the quartz color seen in our pictures, but you can also choose a green/black version which is aimed more towards guys.

Controls

For controls on this kitty cat gaming headset, the volume up and volume down wheel can be easily accessed on the left earcup where you will also find the THX spatial Razer Kraken buttons for on and off toggle.

Meanwhile, the Razer Chroma Tool is the tool to customize the colors to match your gaming or streaming setup.

Price

Pink Kitty headset

The Razer Kraken Kitty Edition is currently priced at around $150 without the shipping fee.

The prices sometimes change as they go on sale so be sure to check in from time to time if you are on a budget as you might be able to get them new for as low as $110 which is 100% worth it at that price point.

Limitations and Issues

A full pink PC setup including a mic, keyboard, mouse, laptop, and headset

The Razer Kraken Kitty edition is compatible with PC only. You might be wondering if the headset will work on your Xbox or PlayStation, the answer is it will not.

For some users, the cable length might be too short however, that’s where the BT model (see below) comes in as that one is wireless and free of cables.

Another minor limitation is that the THX Spatial Audio is only compatible with Windows 64-bit.

Is it Worth Getting the Razer Kraken Kitty Edition?

The Razer Kraken Kitty Edition is probably one of the best kitty ears headsets that you can find in the market and is a great addition to your gaming setup if you’re looking for an RGB gaming kitty headset with impressive sound quality.

This kitty cat Razer headset is also a good investment for streamers because of the fantastic lighting effects that it offers.

The mic quality is also clear enough for voice chat and streaming purposes.

The only downside to this Razer headset is that it’s not compatible with gaming consoles and the THX Spatial Audio is only for Windows 64-bit.

Other than that, the Razer Kraken Kitty Edition is a must-have for any PC gamer looking for an upgrade to their gaming headset.

Razer Kraken BT Kitty Edition Review (Wireless)

The Razer Kraken BT Kitty version is as the name suggests is the Bluetooth wireless version of the Razer Kraken Kitty without the microphone that sticks out.

These look more like headphones due to their design, but there is a built-in microphone which you can’t see.

These cute gamer headphones deserves a separate section for review because of the varying performance between wired and wireless cat ears Razer headsets.

Those who prefer to be wireless in general should consider the BT version. You’ll feel more free when gaming and you won’t need to deal with wires flying everywhere or getting in your way.

See below for an in-depth review of the aspects of the Razer Kraken BT Kitty headset and see if this is a better choice for you.

Audio Quality

BT edition up close

Razer Kraken BT Kitty Edition headphones although not as powerful as the wired Razer Kraken Kitty Headset, produce rich audio enough to satisfy the non-hardcore gamers and users who are not particular with the audio quality.

Unlike the Razer Kraken Headset, Razer Kraken BT Kitty headphones do not have the THX spatial audio feature and instead feature custom-tuned 40mm drivers.

The custom-tuned 40mm drivers of this Razer cat ears headset deliver good enough audio without the static or annoying buzzing noise.

Microphone and Noise Cancellation

BT wireless versions from the side

Razer Kraken BT Kitty give you less nuisance with the absence of the cardioid microphone and instead feature what is called a beamforming microphone that picks up the user’s voice with less background noise.

They are designed to reduce noises from different directions to make sure that you deliver clear audio without unnecessary noise.

Comfort

When it comes to comfort are not so different from other Razer Kraken headsets.

The ear cups have a good noise-canceling effect and are very comfortable to wear even for long hours of gaming or work.

The soft cushiony feel of the earcups on these cat-ear Razer headphones has the right fit that prevents pressure buildup.

Design and Controls

A top view of the BT headset

The design features the classic Razer logo on both earcups. These Razer cat ears headphones also have an indicator light on the left earcup that notifies the user of the headset’s battery level.

The cat-ear part is also illuminated with RGB lighting that is customizable using the Razer Synapse tool. You can also get the Razer Audio app to customize the audio settings to your liking.

The headband is made of aluminum and can be adjusted to fit different head sizes, whether you have a Megamind head or a slightly smaller head. It will still fit fine.

The BT version is slightly heavier compared to the wired version, but overall you shouldn’t have any difficulties wearing it for longer periods of time as it’s not that heavy.

The on-ear controls of these wireless razer kitty headphones can be found on the right earcup. These on-ear controls include playback, volume control, and a mic mute button.

Price

Boxing of the bluetooth cat ear headphones

Razer Kraken BT Kitty is priced at around $100 which is actually cheaper than the wired version.

At the time of writing this, it’s sold out and Razer will re-release a new batch on December 29, 2022. If you are reading this in 2023 or beyond, use the button above to check the latest price.

Razer Kraken BT Kitty Bluetooth Power and Battery Life

A woman taking a picture of herself

When it comes to wireless headphones, Bluetooth power and battery life are among the most important factors.

Razer Kraken BT Kitty features a 5.0 Bluetooth capability that promises a stable, low latency connection. The 5.0 Bluetooth feature also consumes less battery giving the headset up to 20 hours of use.

The only downside is that Bluetooth and microphone usage doesn’t go well. If you are just using it to listen to music or listen to your game, connect via Bluetooth. If you are using the microphone as well then you need to use a USB dongle and connect to wireless mode.

With Bluetooth connectivity comes wide compatibility, aside from a PC, you can also connect to your mobile phone or any other device that accepts Bluetooth.

Limitations and Issues

The Razer logo

The Razer BT Kitty Edition has some limitations too. One of the limitations it has is that the Razer Synapse is only accessible to PC users.

There are also reports of setup issues and playback problems.

Despite the portability, please take note that these headphones do not fold so they won’t get any smaller unfortunately.

Another downside is that they sell out frequently and often. Getting your hands on one might prove to be quite a mission!
