All Mortal Kombat X Characters: XL Full Roster Unlocked

Mortal Kombat X, often known as Mortal Kombat 10 or Mortal Kombat XL takes place 2 years after the defeat of Shao Kahn, the ruler of the Outworld.

All Mortal Kombat X characters have a unique backstory to tell and below you will find a full list of Mortal Kombat characters featured in the original MK X, as well as the expansion packs which later all got combined to become Mortal Kombat XL.

The full roster of Mortal Kombat X features 24 playable characters as well as 9 DLC characters, bringing the total playable characters in Mortal Kombat X to 33 characters.

As MK10 is already quite old, it’s best to get the Mortal Kombat XL game, that way you get the full roster of characters without needing to buy additional DLC packs.

In the base game of Mortal Kombat X which was originally released on the 7th of April 2015, there are 24 playable characters to choose from. Below you will find all of the Mortal Kombat characters’ names with pictures of their appearance.

Cassie Cage

Cassie Cage

Making her debut in MKX and following in the footsteps of her parents, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. Cassie Cage is one of the Mortal Kombat heroes and a Special Forces soldier, leading a new generation of combatants in the defense of Earthrealm.

Cassie’s fighting technique is identical to that of her parents. She can fight with her fists in close battle and utilize her pistols at a distance. In Mortal Kombat X she fights using handguns and a nightstick.



D’Vorah is one of the female Mortal Kombat X characters that also made a debut in MKX. Originally from the Arnyek Islands in the Outworld, D’Vorah is Kytinn which is a colonial insect species that bonds together to form humanoid bodies. D’Vorah’s primary motivation is to ensure the survival of The Hive, the birthplace of all other Kytinn.

As you can expect, D’Vorah can use a variety of huge bugs and winged insects thanks to her insect affinity. In MKX she also uses Ovipositors and Venom as her main weapons.


Ermac in MKXL

Ermac is possibly the best character in Mortal Kombat X in terms of win ratio. He is a red-clad ninja who uses telekinesis during combat and was first introduced in Mortal Kombat 3. He is a clever and dangerous combatant who uses his telekinetic skills to fight numerous opponents at once while maintaining the upper hand.

Ermac can also manage soul energy, which he uses in the form of levitation and projectile assaults, in addition to his telekinesis. Ermac’s main weapon is an axe.

Erron Black

Erron Black

Erron Black is an Outlander who serves close to the Outworld throne, serving whoever is monarch of Outworld. This Texas cowboy is an Earthrealm-born Outworld mercenary and former member of the Black Dragon.

In Mortal Kombat X, Erron uses revolvers, a Repeating Rifle, Sand Orbs, and Caltrops as his main weapons.

Ferra & Torr

Ferra & Torr in MK10

Ferra & Torr, a symbiote duo consisting of a young girl rider and a massive masked brute, were discovered wandering the Tarkatan wastelands before being enlisted as the personal bodyguards of the new Outworld emperor Kotal Kahn.

They are a species from the Outworld in which the rider forms a strong link with his or her steed. Torr transforms Ferra into a human weapon and Ferra can be flung at opponents and can use her grasp when she is alone. Ferra’s weapons are hand claws.

Jacqui Briggs

Jacqui Briggs

Jacqui Briggs uses kickboxing as her fighting style and is the daughter of Jax Briggs and a Special Forces operative. Debuting In MKXL, her primary weapon is a set of electronic gauntlets which she uses to punch her enemies.


Original character Jax

One of the classic Mortal Kombat characters that everyone has seen or heard of before. Major Jackson “Jax” Briggs is the commander of Earthrealm’s Special Forces unit, the Outer World Investigation Agency. To obliterate his adversaries, he employs tons of different weapons but in MKX he uses his bionic arms, a submachine gun, and a rocket launcher.

Johnny Cage

Of all MKX characters in the roster, Johnny Cage stands out the most. Johnny Cage is a classic character that is an action movie star and martial artist. He is one of the seven original Mortal Kombat characters and by far the most popular character in Mortal Kombat.

Johnny Cage has been a major figure in the series for many years and in MKX he uses the Shorin Ryu fighting style to beat people up with his brass knuckles.


Kano - 5th best MKXL character

One of the Mortal Kombat original characters from the arcade game and a recurring antagonist in the series who is the main enemy of Sonya and the Special Forces.

Kano, the chief of the Black Dragon clan, is a merciless scoundrel that uses Butterfly Knives, his bionic eye, a cybernetic heart, elbow blades, and grenades as his main weapons.

Currently, Kano is ranked as the 5th best MKX character based on his win rate.

Kenshi Takahashi

Kenshi Takahashi the blind swordsman

The blind swordsman Kenshi Takahashi makes a return with a major supporting role in the story of the MKX game.

Kenshi Takahashi is the father of Takeda Takahashi and a vital ally of the Special Forces. In all his appearances he uses a Sento (Katana) as his main weapon.


Kitana MKX

Kitana is a 10,000-year-old princess of Outworld who specializes in assassination and was first presented in Mortal Kombat 2.

In MK10 Kitana’s main weapon is a pair of steel fans, which she employs for the majority of her special assaults. She also uses a Bo (long staff) and Cyclone Thrower (a Tri-Blade) as her weapons.

Kotal Kahn

Kotal Kahn

Ko’atal, more commonly known as Kotal Kahn or simply Kotal, is a strong and high-ranking Osh-Tekk who served as Emperor of Outworld after Shao Kahn died.

Kotal Kahn wields the Tecpatl as his weapon. It’s an Aztec knife that’s most famous for being used in Aztec human sacrifice rites that entail removing the human heart. He also uses Macuahuitl, Sickles, and Totems as weapons.

Kung Jin

Kung Jin - new player in MKX

A newly introduced playable MK10 character that serves as one of the protagonists in the story mode of MK10. Kung Jin is one of the 33 playable MK10 characters and is the nephew of Kung Lao.

Having learned much of Outworld and the ways of the Shaolin, Kung Jin now fights to protect Earthrealm in honor of his family.

His main weapons are a bow and arrow as well as chakrams.

Kung Lao

Kung Lao

Former Shaolin monk and White Lotus Society member Kung Lao. His great ancestor, the Great Kung Lao, is in the shadow of him.

Kung Lao uses a Razor-Rimmed Hat as his signature weapon, which he can use to great effect in battle. His headwear plays a role in a number of his fatalities.

Liu Kang

Liu Kang

Liu Kang is one of the few original Mortal Kombat characters, having made his appearance in the inaugural Mortal Kombat arcade game. He is one of the most powerful fighters in the Earthrealm and ranks 6th as the best Mortal Kombat X character in terms of strength.

In Mortal Kombat X, Liu Kang’s fighting styles are Dragon Kung Fu and Jeet Kune Do.


Mileena from Mortal Kombat

In the Mortal Kombat X roster, Mileena makes a return. She was first introduced way back in MK2 and since then she’s almost always had a major role in all Mortal Kombat games thereafter.

Mileena is a mutant hybrid clone of Kitana made in Shang Tsung’s flesh pits at the request of Shao Kahn, who was growing increasingly concerned that Kitana might learn the truth and betray him.

Mileena uses Saijutsu as her fighting style and has Sai (same weapon as Raphael from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as her and in MKX she also has the Amulet of Shinnok.

Quan Chi

Quan Chi

Serving as a secondary antagonist and one of the main Mortal Kombat villians, Quan Chi first appeared in the Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero game and since then he frequently appears in any Mortal Kombat roster as an antagonist.

Quan Chi is a demon who uses broadswords as his main weapon to pulverize his enemies.


Raiden the eternal God of Thunder

Of all the characters on Mortal Kombat X, Raiden stands out immediately. Raiden is the eternal God of Thunder, and he is one of the series’ most important characters as well as one of the most memorable characters in the fighting game genre.

Raiden’s main weapon is his staff, and as he is the God of Thunder, you can expect to be using a lot of thunder-based attacks. In MKX he also has the Amulet of Shinnok.


Reptile in MKXL

Syzoth, often known as Reptile, is an original Mortal Kombat character who made his first appearance as a secret character in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game. In the original arcade game, Reptile is an unplayable secret boss character.

Reptile is a well-known servant of the Outworld Empire, dedicated to his lord Shang Tsung while dutifully serving the Outworld Emperors Shao Kahn and Kotal Kahn.

His signature moves include Acid Spit (Acid Puddle in MKX), Slippery Slide, Stealth, Reptilian Dash, Reptilian Smash, Invisibility, and more.


Scorpion from Mortal Kombat XL

Hanzo Hasashi, often known as Scorpion, is a revived ninja who serves as one of the games’ main mascots. Scorpion is also one of the few original Mortal Kombat characters who made their appearance in the first arcade game and you will probably know him from his catchphrase ‘Get over here!’

He is currently one of the few playable characters that has been present in every Mortal Kombat game, alongside Raiden and Sub-Zero.

In MKX, Scorpion’s fighting style is Moi Fah and his weapons are Kunai and Mugai Ryu.


Shinnok, playable boss character

Shinnok is also known as The Fallen Elder God, who is a strong and malevolent Elder God of Death who desires death and destruction across all realms. Along with Shao Kahn, he is the series’ main antagonist.

He is the only playable boss character in Mortal Kombat X and currently ranks as the 3rd strongest character.

Shinnok’s weapons are Bone Scythe and a Bone Pollaxe.

Sonya Blade

Sonya Blade

Sonya A. Blade is a soldier who served in Earthrealm’s Special Forces organization known as the Outer World Investigation Agency. She now oversees all Special Forces and Unit operations, including Cassie’s team, the new Earthrealm unit.

Debuting in the Mortal Kombat arcade game back in 1992 as the first female character in the series, Sonya has been a recurring character ever since.

Sonya Blade is a master of Tae Kwan Do and her weapons are Energy Bracelets, Garrot Wire, Grenades, and a Drone.



Kuai Liang, also known as Sub-Zero, is the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei assassin clan. In Mortal Kombat II, Sub-Zero made his playable debut as the younger brother of Bi-Han, the original Sub-Zero from the first Mortal Kombat game.

Sub-Zero uses various ice attacks to defeat his enemies, and in MKX his main weapons are a Kori blade, ice hammer, and ice daggers.

Takeda Takahashi

Takeda Takahashi is Kenshi’s son and a pupil of Shirai Ryu chief Hanzo Hasashi. Mortal Kombat X marks his first appearance as a playable character, and he makes a cameo in MK11 so we should see more of him in the future.

Takeda’s weapons in MKX are whips, a plasma sword, and kunai.

Goro - Preorder bonus character in MKX

Goro is a 4,000 year-old half-human dragon man, the Shokan’s prince, and one of the original Mortal Kombat characters, first appearing as a sub-boss in the arcade game Mortal Kombat 1 and then as the sub-boss in many future games thereafter.

He was reintroduced as a playable character in Mortal Kombat X, acting as the game’s Arcade’s sub-boss and the first character in history to be released as a pre-order bonus character. He was later also released in Kombat Pack 2 for those that didn’t pre-order the game.

Goro’s weapons are gauntlets called Dragon Fangs.

Access to four character and skin packs is included. It also unlocks the Samurai Skin Pack, which contains Imperial Samurai-themed skins for Kenshi, Shinnok, and Kitana. 

Jason Voorhees

Jason Voorhees - DLC Character

Jason Voorhees is a Human serial killer best known for his appearances on Friday the 13th. Voorhees made his initial appearance as a playable guest character in Mortal Kombat X, as the first character to be released as part of the Kombat Pack’s DLC.

Fans of Friday the 13th should already know that his main weapon is a machete.


Tanya - DLC Character

Tanya is a ruthless and deceitful Edenian who has sided with many of the series’ key antagonists.

She first appeared in Mortal Kombat 4 and reappeared as a non-playable fightable character in Mortal Kombat X. She was eventually released as a DLC character, the second of the first Kombat Pack’s DLC characters.

Kobu Jutsu and Dragon Naginata are Tanya’s weapons.


Predator in Mortal Kombat

The Predator is a fictional extraterrestrial humanoid hunter who appears in the Predator film series. Known as a brave alien hunter, Predator has become a cult classic and one of cinema’s most renowned franchises.

In Mortal Kombat X, Predator made his debut as a playable guest character as part of the Kombat Pack’s third DLC character.

He uses various weapons which include wrist blades, combi-stick, smart disc, plasma caster, cloaking device, self-destruct device, and explosive snares.



Tremor is a weapons dealer and a powerful enforcer for the Black Dragon clan. He is a ninja with Earth Elemental abilities. Tremor debuted as the final character in the Kombat Pack in Mortal Kombat X as DLC.

Mortal Kombat: Kombat Pack 2

The Kombat Pack 2 gives you access to five more characters as well as four skin packs. Alien, Leatherface, Triborg, Bo’ Rai Cho, and Goro are the five characters included in Kombat Pack 2. Kold War Scorpion, Brazil Skin Pack, Kold War Skin Pack, and Apocalypse Pack are among the four skin packs included.


Alien from Kombat Pack 2

The Alien, also known as the Xenomorph or scientifically as Xenomorph XX121, is an extraterrestrial endoparasitoid best known for its appearance in the science-fiction horror series of the same name.

Currently, Alien ranks as one of the best Mortal Kombat XL characters (2nd place) for competitive players.

The Alien first appeared as a playable guest character in Mortal Kombat X’s Kombat Pack 2 DLC.

His weapons are Tarkatan Blades, his inner jaw, spike-tipped tail, and acidic blood.

Bo’ Rai Cho

Bo'Rai Cho

Bo’ Rai Cho is an Outworld-born master of the Drunken Fist who is also the master of the Shaolin Monks Liu Kang and Kung Lao. He is a prominent ally of the God of Thunder Raiden.

He was later included in the Kombat Pack 2 of MKX as a playable character and his weapon is called a Jo.


Leatherface in Mortal Kombat XL

Leatherface, also known as Jedidiah “Jed” Sawyer, is a cannibalistic Human serial killer best remembered for his appearances in the famous horror film series The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

He first appeared as a playable character in Mortal Kombat X as part of the Kombat Pack 2 DLC. Leatherface subsequently reappears in Mortal Kombat Mobile as a playable character.

His weapon is as you’d expect, a chainsaw.


Triborg from Mortal Kombat

Triborg is the sole remaining cyborg of the Cyber Initiative and a member of the cyberized version of the Lin Kuei. It is on a mission to wipe out all life on the planet.

As part of the Kombat Pack 2, Triborg made his debut as one of the playable MK 10 characters. He uses cybernetic weapons.
